The Blu-devil Wants His Blu-rays

I’ve got some good news and bad news regarding my Blu-ray disc replacements. As a serious collector, this is indeed something that I’m quite keen to sort out as soon as possible as any faulty, substandard BDs are simply unacceptable.

Let’s start with the good news. Last week, I wrote that I had to re-email Buena Vista Home Entertainment (Disney) regarding the replacement (or rather, the lack of) Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl Blu-ray. Well, today I received said replacement disc, had a quick look at the misframed scene, and all actors had their heads about themselves. So, well done Disney and Buena Vista.

Now on to the bad news. I received an email from Fox telling me that since I wasn’t American or Canadian, the studio was unwilling to replace my faulty Die Hard 2: Die Harder Blu-ray disc. They were basically saying, “screw you, if you bought this Zone A locked title in Thailand, Hongkong, etc.”, a response that’s more than unacceptable, considering that for Blu-ray, Zone A goes beyond US and Canada and does in fact include several other countries.

Way to go, Fox, great customer service. Well, I wasn’t going to bend over and wait for penetration. I wrote back telling them to get off their arses and fix THEIR defective product and that it was my right as a customer to receive a product that actually works, regardless of where I might be. I’m yet to get a reply. Again, I’ll keep you posted.
